2 Dec 2014 - Launching of new workshop - How on earth is it possible to play by ear? A 90mins PBE workshop that we have kept everyone waiting for. What are the advantages of playing by ear? You can play any song by ear. But what are the disadvantages? You better know the song. Since the year we started in 2003, we have been in this debate of whether which is more important – the ability to play by ear or reading notes? We are proud to announced Doi Akane, our new PBE Japan artist representing our PBE Japan. Born in Kyoto, Akane started music at an early age of 4 and completed her studies in Osaka. Currently, she works as a studio recording musician, a composer and arranger for the 'Live Support' in Tokyo. Her musical works incorporates a fusion of genres such as New age, folk and Contemporary classical. She officially launched her 6th album, びいどろ揚羽蝶 in Sept 2014, now available for downloads at itunes. 1 Mar 2014 - Jurong East Branch
New PBE branch! Play By Ear Music School (Singapore) is proud to announce the opening of its new branch in Western Singapore. Also known as PBE Jurong, this new school is located conveniently near Jurong East MRT, an approximate 3 mins walk from JCube or Jurong East Regional Library. Classes at this new branch are virtually identical lessons as PBE Bugis. All PBE students are welcome to practice at our new premises for free. 17 April 2014 - New P.B.E. Syllabus
2014 marks the launch of the latest P.B.E.S™ (Play By Ear Syllabus™). The updated syllabus comprises additional contemporary piano and guitar improvisation modules, with an additional advanced improvisation level. This new improved P.B.E.S™ system is way friendlier than the previous versions, yet maintaining a systematical and flexible system. Subjects in Level 2 and 3 are now elaborated with clearer picture diagrams and music notations. Previous improvisation examples are also broken down into smaller steps. 08 April 2014 - Rao Zi Jie
Play by Ear Music School is honored to collaborate with Singapore's upcoming artiste - Rao Zi Jie who shot to fame when reached the finals of Campus Superstar, a Singaporean reality television singing competition hosted by MediaCorp channel U in 2006. His big screen debut is in Jack Neo's latest movie "The Lion Men" (狮神决战) 2014 part I & II, released in 2013 starring Ah boys to Men cast Wang Wei Liang, Tosh Zhang, Noah Yap, Charlie Goh, and Maxi Lim.
